Volunteers like Cristina Schutz help bring our mission of inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold to life every day. Since joining us in 2024 as a Bold Buddy, Cristina has made an incredible impact through her warm presence, playful energy, and commitment to uplifting every girl she meets.

For Cristina, the heart of Girls Inc.’s mission is all about voice and visibility. “Girls Inc. does such an amazing job empowering young girls, but what really stands out for me is the emphasis on encouraging girls to take up space and use their voice!” she shares. Whether it’s through structured programs or spontaneous moments of connection, Cristina loves seeing girls step into their confidence and express themselves authentically.

One of her favorite memories as a Bold Buddy is the perfect example of the magic that happens when imagination meets empowerment. “My favorite memory from this semester was the giggles and stories my Bold Buddies came up with during making finger puppets,” Cristina recalls. “They created an entire village of ‘roaches’ and thought it was so funny — they even put on a puppet show for me. Their imagination and giggles will never be forgotten.”

For anyone thinking about volunteering with Girls Inc. of Metro Denver, Cristina offers some heartfelt encouragement: “The staff is so welcoming, friendly, and supportive. Then you top it off with amazing girls who are so excited to see you each time, tell you stories, and connect — it doesn’t get much better than that.”
